The first few days of classes

I have been exercising my powers as an RA the past few days. My residents are all moved in and my hall is beginning to cheap cialis online bond and hang out and stuff. So much fun, just two guys on the hall are never around, but that happens. House council elections were tonight, one guy from my hall, Colin, is the IM coordinator. I have now been to all of my classes once. It looks like ECE 309 will be my hardest class, luckily it’s an elective, so I might drop it. I don’t know, I need to figure out how this whole school and degree thing works. Yesterday I managed to basically destroy lots of work by accidentally erasing the ECE website I have been working on all summer. Luckily I had a backup from 6 weeks ago. But that is 6 weeks of work down the drain. Tomorrow is Tom Deluca; that should definitely be lots of fun. I am going to bring my hall to that doing some food beforehand. On the RA note, Sue Woodcock is the greatest funest superest sweetest Senior Resident in the whole wide world. After the ECE site is finished, I will be adding a Humphreys section to the website as well as a section telling you how to make your computer run faster.

I’m an RA with residents

It’s been a while since I have had any time to update my site. My RA training is finished, and my residents have moved in. Training was a long and hard week of 16 hour days. But I learned a lot about how to handle many different situations and problems that may arise among my residents. Move-in day was on Saturday; it was a lot of fun seeing all the residents move in and then all the parents leaving. I didn’t see any teary moments where parents didn’t want to leave their kids, but I heard of some touching stories. My residents have been here for two days now, they all seem to be pretty good kids. I’m excited about this year. Last night reminded me a lot of my first year. On my way out there were herds of 1st years everywhere, all heading out to Rugby Rd. There were a few parties last night, so they had some places to go. It’s funny watching the 1st years move from party to party in groups of 20 trying to get in. I am looking forward to this new year of kids.
I ordered some fun new computer parts a while ago and have yet to see any boxes. I am pretty pissed about this, because UPS said they were delivered. But life goes on, it was only some $300 of stuff. Well, I have to take my residents to ‘Grounds for Discussion’ at 9:30; I hope they are all up. I hope to do some more updating later today.

The summer has now come to an end

Well I finished up my last week of work on Aug 9th and then went back to Lynchvegas (Lynchburg) for a while. During this time at home I spent nearly all of it working on this fantastic workbench. It took about 6 days to get this together. I guess carpentry is not my forte. But the desk is almost done now, just need to get a few more coats of finish on it. There will be a little documentary about the building of the desk once it is complete.
About school. I have moved all of my stuff from Pi Lam into my dorm room. I am going to be an RA in Humphreys (Old Dorms). I am real exictied about this. Training started yesterday, it wasn’t too bad. Today though, and throughout the rest of the training it looks like days are from 8am – 9pm. I expect training to be fun and then the whole RA deal should be good as well. The people on the Humphreys staff seem cool, so I don’t think there will be any major problems. We get three meals a day which is going to be nice. UVA has also redone Newcomb Dining. It is pretty cool now, and the food is actually made by people, not like big trays of slop that they splatter on your plate. I am looking forward to this coming year. Also look for a small writeup about my work at IMC in the near future. Webcam is up as well. Off to training for me.

I hate computers, and me because I am dumb, long day…

So today has just been a splendid day. I mean I started off waking up late then going to work of course. Work wasn’t terrible today, I solved a problem that boss wasn’t able to solve. Definitly reduces lots of problems we have been having. But then I went to check to see if this stuff I have been working on would work in Netscap 4.7, and walla it didn’t. But before my hard drive failed last week, it was working in Netscape. And I swear the code is the same. Well then I showed it to the boss, and he was happy and so was I, but then this Netscape issue. So by friday morning at 10am, I have to have the netscape problem fixed along with several other upgrades and bug fixes. I don’t think that is going to happen. But we’ll see. Then to top the night off even more, I have just managed to kill my two best computers. My Athlon XP 1800 and Athlon 1.2GHz processrs are soon to be burried. I fried the 1800 tonight, I actually got to see the smoke of the 1800, that was a lot of fun (where fun = me crying my eyes out). So I will buy at least one processor tomorrow to get a machine working. After all of the misfortuns of the night I splurged and had a code red mountain dew. Now I am going to get to bed so I can get this project done by 10Am tomm. Goodnight
