Beginning to Close Out my College Career

I’m going to get back into this updating my website pattern – or at least I hope. Thesis, Tabling, Guatemala 2004 Team Dinner, Discipleship weekend, Springfest, Jackson Ball.

Well, I viagra super active finally finished my thesis. The paper is complete, but there is still more work to be done for the project. My advisors just recently approved it, so I won’t be required to revise it anymore. That is such a load off of me. Now I just need to pass my classes, there is no more requirements to fulfill for graduation. I think I did a pretty good job on the thesis itself as well, much better writing than I generally turn out.
I also got an opportunity to do something I had not done before – tabling. Chi Alpha was going to be giving out “The Passion of Jesus Christ” books in Newcomb one day. I got an email saying they needed some volunteers to help pass out the books and such. Well, considering I only have classes on Tuesday and Thursday, I decided I would give this a try. I was skeptical at first, because I was going to be handing out a book which explained 50 reasons why Christ came and died how he did. But it was so much fun, I got to yell at the passers by asking if they had seen the movie, “The Passion of the Christ”. Then I would ask them to express their opinion of the movie on this large pad of paper we had. After that I would explain Chi Alpha briefly and that we were going to be analyzing different aspects of the movie and then offer the book. I can’t believe I was nervous at first, I had a grand time doing this, passing out Christian literature. I mean I loved doing it in Guatemala, why was UVa any different?
The previous weekend was Chi Alpha discipleship weekend, but before that started I had an opportunity to have dinner with the rest of the team that went to Guatemala with me on Spring Break. It was nice to hang out with everybody on the team again for dinner. Then all of us were also going to do the discipleship weekend. That started at 7pm on Friday and went until around 10pm that night. Then it went through the next day (Saturday) from 8am to 4pm. Quite a long time to do some in-depth study of the Bible straight through, but it was well worth it. I had to miss what was considered one of the biggest Pi Lam parties ever. I don’t know, these parties just are fun like they used to be. I find myself just sitting in my room with some friends talking during these parties. I enjoy this much more than the typical frat scene you have downstairs.
Finally, this weekend (Saturday) was Springfest here at UVa. The Mad Bowl was fairly muddy this year, and I didn’t get in line to tie-dye t-shirts this year. Oh well, the free food was nice. Then the band, “Better than Ezra” was here as the kicker band at 5pm. Well myself and most of the frat here headed down to that. The music wasn’t good – in my opinion, but I had a lot of fun anyways. I saw people I hadn’t seen in a while and just acted like a six year old all over again. Played in the mud, Frisbee, wrestled, ran around, spun girls over my head, yelled, ran after bubbles, and just had a great time. When my energy level began to settle, I was going to head off with Tom, Joel, and friends to dinner, but then decided I wouldn’t’ since I didn’t have my wallet.
Well I got back home and remember I was supposed to pick up this girl for a semiformal event in less than half an hour. Talk about forgetful. Oh well, I’m a guy and got ready and was in the car by 7pm. I picked up another guy and got to her house about on time. Then I got to sit there and wait for the girls to get ready for about 45 minutes. Girls, I mean come on. Oh well, they all looked good, so I guess it was worth it. We went to Star Hill for dinner then went to the little dance. I must say it was like a middle school dance at first, but once a lot of Chi Alpha people were there we took it over pretty much. It was a lot of fun dancing with everybody and just chilling out with these guys. This was my first semiformal event without alcohol and with only Christian people. Way better than I was expecting. Everything is going well.
Now I just need to find a way to get to Europe and Asia this summer and some people to go with me. Let me know if you have any suggestions about where to go, when, and things to do when I am there. Thanks.
